Why you'll love windsurfing in Dominican-republic!

  • Cabarete's reliable and consistent wind conditions make it an excellent destination for windsurfers
  • A variety of water sports on offer such as diving, kitesurfing and snorkelling

Dominican Republic shares the Hispaniola Island with Haiti located in the middle of the Caribbean Sea; so temperatures and weather are comfortable all year round. Warm temperatures and reliable wind conditions make the Dominican Republic a perfect windsurfing destination. Cabarete is located on the Northern coast, with its relaxed and informal atmosphere, beautiful palm fringed beaches and consistent wind conditions make this a fantastic place for windsurfing. Watersport enthusiasts will find that holidays in the Dominican Republic are perfect for scuba diving, windsurfing, snorkelling and kitesurfing. Other sports such as mountain biking, horseback riding, hiking and day treks are also popular.

The Dominican Republic island of Hispaniola is where Christopher Columbus landed during his first voyage across the Atlantic and was home to the first permanent European settlement in the Americas. As a result, the city of Santo Domingo is home to the first cathedral, municipal building and university in the New World.

Except in the central mountains, temperatures don’t vary much in the Dominican Republic, averaging a summery 81ºF (28ºC) to 87ºF (31ºC) in most places for much of the year. Tropical humidity can make the temperatures feel higher, though sea breezes help mitigate the effect. The rainy season is May to October, though in Samaná and on the north coast it can last until December. August and September constitute hurricane season. The main foreign tourist seasons are December to February and July to August and Semana Santa (the week before Easter). Expect higher prices and more crowded beaches at these times – Semana Santa is especially busy. February has great weather and you can enjoy Carnaval and the whales in Samaná. November is good, too – you will miss the whales but catch baseball season.

A Cabarete Windsurf Holiday offers not only a world class windsurf destinations but is a great all round holiday destination; it has clock work wind, great wave sailing, flatwater freestyle, and offers non wind sports which ensures you can be on the water from the early mornings up until happy hour. It’s typically Caribbean with clear water, long sandy beaches, and hot all year round. It is the most mountainous island in the Caribbean making endless beautiful excursions into the mountains, from hardcore mountain biking to cascading in the waterfalls. The island is full of natural beauty and is very unspoilt, you only need to head a mile out of town to find a completely undeveloped area.
